The culprit of skin problems - have you chosen the right towel?

time:2025-07-02 click:

Towels are prone to odor and bacterial growth, especially in the hot summer. For people with oily skin, towels quickly become damp and sticky, which becomes a hidden danger to skin health. Long-term contact with unclean towels can cause skin itching, frequent acne and dilated pores, and its potential harm cannot be ignored. In fact, many skin problems may come from this seemingly harmless daily necessity - towels.

As a daily necessity, the selection of towels should be given enough attention, but some consumers know little about their quality identification. The current market supervision and spot checks show that the unqualified rate of towel products remains high, and the problems are mainly concentrated in pH imbalance, insufficient color fastness, severe hair loss and decreased water absorption. Such quality problems are mostly caused by the use of inferior raw materials and dyeing and finishing auxiliaries by manufacturers to reduce costs, coupled with lax production process control.

Analysis of towel quality problems:

High hair removal rate:

Low-quality cotton fiber spinning is used, and there are many hairs and fiber impurities on the yarn surface. After the towel is made, it is easy to fall off, affecting the use experience.

Poor water absorption:

In order to pursue a soft feel, excessive softener is added, sacrificing the water absorption performance of the towel.

Abnormal pH value:

Improper use or insufficient treatment of chemical additives in the dyeing and finishing process causes the pH value of the towel to deviate from the normal range.

How to buy towels:

1. Look at the appearance

High-quality towels have natural and soft colors and clear patterns. Whether they are printed or solid colors, they show excellent texture and craftsmanship.

2. Smell

Sniff the towel lightly before purchasing. If there is a candle smell or ammonia smell, it means that the softener is excessive; the sour smell may exceed the pH value; the pungent smell indicates that it contains formaldehyde fixing agent, which poses a health risk. Ideally, colored towels should have no odor.

3. Check color fastness

High-quality towels are mostly made of reactive dyes. It is normal for dark towels to slightly fade during the first wash. However, if light-colored towels fade excessively or dark-colored towels fade significantly after multiple washes, it reflects that the dye quality is poor.

4. Touch

High-quality towels are soft, fluffy and elastic, and are comfortable and non-greasy when used against the skin. The greasy feeling is often caused by excessive addition of softeners, which not only affects water absorption, but may also have adverse effects on health.

Therefore, to choose a comfortable and healthy towel, you need to consider its appearance, smell, color fastness and feel. Only through strict screening and identification can the quality of towels be ensured, bringing a truly comfortable experience to daily life.
